how we can work together.
Therapy FAQs
What is psychotherapy?
Basically, it’s just a conversation, between two people, who talk about things that are confusing, unspoken, and unsaid, in order to bring light to what is being faced.
What do we do in a session?
There’s no quick answer here, apart from: it changes. It depends. First, I want to understand why, now. Why are you here now. What prompted you to seek therapy now? I want to hear about your relationships, and your family. And then we talk about it all: make connections, discuss things that haven’t been discussed before, gain clarity around things we didn’t have clarity around, and we practice things: saying things, engaging on things.
Do you see couples?
Yes! Couples therapy is just as powerful as therapy for individuals. I love relationships and the opportunity to work with the relationship in session. I love working with couples, and encourage couples therapy for those who are newly married, when not in crises, and want to work on strengthening their relationship. Therapy is relational care, and an investment and protection for the relationship. It’s a wonderful thing for couples who are mostly getting along but want to come have a place where they can connect every week. A tune up.
Do you see people in person or online?
I’m available for both! I work out of an office off of Union Square 2 days a week.
What tech do I need to participate in an online session?
You need a phone, or wifi and a device to access the internet so you can use Doxy.
What is the policy to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Please text or email me to let me know at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled session.
What are your preferred communication norms?
To best honor and support us in navigating the client-therapist relationship, I’ve established the following communication norms: 1) if something doesn’t feel right to you in session or thereafter, please bring it up in session or call me to discuss afterward so it can be immediately addressed. 2) If you need to reschedule a session, please notify me by text or email at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled session. 3) When you feel that our time working together is coming to a close for any reason, please tell me in session or call me so we can discuss parting ways.
